About Zella's

It's said that when youšre born you come into the world knowing exactly what you're supposed to do with your life. Due to numerous distractions, most of us take detours on our journeys, spending a lot of time trying to discover our way back to that knowingness. Owner and Chef, Dionne Knox spent over 10 years working in both the non profit world and in the food industry. While being passionate about both, a strong passion for cooking, planning events and entertaining always seemed to supersede all other endeavors.

As a result, Zella's Soulful Kitchen was cooked up in 2004, in Oakland California, servicing the Bay Area. The company is affectionately named after Mozella Johnson (also known as "Zella"), who was Dionne's grandmother. At the young age of 8 years old, Dionne remembers spending most of her time in the kitchen with her grandmother cooking meals and baking delicious desserts. Zella was a dynamic chef known for cooking everything from "scratch," as well as using the best ingredients that could be found. To honor that legacy, Zellašs Soulful Kitchen follows in those same footsteps. We pride ourselves on using the best quality ingredients. We use organic fruits and vegetable when available, as well as free range and organic poultry and meats.

Our main goal is to provide the freshest and healthiest food that pleases the soul and the palate of the client.
